Your understanding is based on your
language skill. How skillful are you in the
domain of language? How many words do
you know? With all those words that you
know, what relations and connections can
you make? Words are concepts, ideas
that mean something or symbolize the many
facets of reality. Who gets to invent new
words? When is a new word necessary?
As we discover something new?
When nothin historical relates to it?
None of this matters unless it helps us,
that is what it means to be a pragmatist.
What we think or do must help us so we
know what works, as if the pragmatist
only hopes to discover truth. Order is hard,
rigid, and final. Chaos is soft, malleable,
and continuing. I like to think that everything
works because its inner workings are in
order to function as so. If something is
broken it has stopped working or
malfunctioned.
If everything that is, our reality, the
universe, is functioning then is it broken?
Is everything inherently intelligent because
its working? All matter knows how to react
regardless of what it comes into contact
with while our laws or descriptions try to
define the behaviors, but for what?
For us. Everything is already in place,
all of reality is bound by electromagnetic
forces. Even in the "vacuum" of space
allows for these forces to traverse through.
That is by the power of light (energy).
Survival takes work. Life is actively
functional to stay afloat. Measuring
ntelligence has been said to be your ability
to achieve, whether its happiness, power,
or wealth. Normally, intelligence only
pertains to life and consciousness only
pertains to humans but they may be the
same thing. All that is intelligent (has function)
is conscious ("alive" to some degree). There
after what is the function of life?
To exist? To continue? If its just a by
product of a functioning universe then
the pragmatist hopes to live forever.
Our wisdom. Our languages. Our history.
Our ancestors. Our successors. These things
all have one thing in common and that is
continuation. They stand against the test of time
and for what? As I grow older, life becomes
increasingly marvelous, beautiful, and unique.
